SOMERVILLE, Tenn. — Baptist Memorial Health Care broke ground April 30 on a $27 million community hospital in Fayette County, marking the first hospital for the rural West Tennessee county of more than 41,000 residents.
Baptist Memorial Hospital-Fayette County will be located at the northwest corner of Highway 64 and Warren Road near Somerville. The facility will include eight emergency department beds, eight inpatient beds, telehealth capabilities, inpatient and outpatient imaging, on-site pharmacy and lab services, and a Baptist Medical Group physician clinic. It is expected to open in spring 2027.

Officials say the hospital will be the most technologically advanced in the Baptist Memorial system, incorporating artificial intelligence and Epic electronic medical records.
“We’re about to do something very special in Fayette County — something that has not been done before,” said Zach Chandler, executive vice president and chief strategy officer for Baptist Memorial. “This will be our most technologically advanced hospital in our entire system.”
Chandler described the project as a convergence of health care services and technology, with Baptist Medical Group — which he called the largest medical group provider in the Mid-South — anchoring the clinic component.
“Jason Little, president and CEO of Baptist Memorial Health Care, said the hospital opens a new chapter for health care in the county.
“We’re able to ensure everyone in the vicinity of this county has access to exceptional, compassionate care for generations to come,” Little said.
Fayette County Mayor Rhea “Skip” Taylor called it “a historic day” for the county.

“This project is about so much more than a new building,” Taylor said. “It is about building health and wellness and investing in the future of our community.”
Flintco, A2H, and Covider Health are partners on the project’s development and construction.
Baptist Memorial Health Care is a Memphis-based not-for-profit system comprising 25 affiliate hospitals across West Tennessee, North and Central Mississippi and East Arkansas. The system employs more than 24,000 people and contributed more than $388 million in community benefit and uncompensated care in fiscal year 2024.
