FRANKLIN — Scott Brown, pastor of First Baptist Church, Waverly, will be nominated as second vice president of the Tennessee Baptist Convention at Summit which will be held Nov. 14-17 at Brentwood Baptist Church in Brentwood.
Matthew Greer, pastor of Missionary Grove Baptist Church, Camden, informed the Baptist and Reflector Aug. 16 of his desire to nominate Brown.
“Scott Brown is a pastor that has a heart for pastors. He is a servant leader and his work ethic is unmatched,” Greer noted.
He added that Brown “knows what it takes to get churches pointed in the right direction.
“He is also willing to do whatever it takes to see the lost won to Christ. He is a willing servant at the state and local level,” Greer said.
Both Brown and Greer currently serve as directors of the Tennessee Baptist Mission Board.
Brown has served as pastor at First Baptist since early 2017. He has served in ministry leadership since 2003, both bivocationally and full time as a youth pastor, associate pastor and pastor.
Before coming to Waverly, Brown led a church revitalization with a congregation in Orlando, Fla. Since coming to Waverly, the church has created new ministries, reached many people in the community, and united behind a mission of “knowing God and making Him known.”
He also earned a doctor of philosophy degree in leadership from Louisiana Baptist University in Shreveport, La., this year.
