C-N UNVEILS 3 NEW DEGREE PROGRAMS

April 25, 2025

Carson-Newman news office

JEFFERSON CITY – Carson-Newman University announced the addition of three new programs starting this fall: Homeland Security and Emergency Management; Artificial Intelligence in Business; and Hospitality and Tourism Management. All three programs are available online or in-person.

Chris Eppling, dean of C-N’s College of Professional Studies, says the new options are strategic by design.

“These three programs each touch on pivotal issues and opportunities facing society and the business world,” said Eppling. “As image-bearers of God and Christian educators, we feel these programs can enhance the lives of our students, benefit our culture and society, and provide opportunities for the world to see C-N graduates serving and leading in their chosen professions.”

The Bachelor of Science in Homeland Security and Emergency Management is designed to incorporate a Christian worldview in preparing students to manage emergencies, threats and crises. The program integrates principles of emergency management, homeland security, risk assessment, business, leadership, and crisis communication, emphasizing theoretical knowledge and practical skills.

The Bachelor of Science in Artificial Intelligence in Business teaches the importance of exercising biblical discernment to ensure that AI-driven insights and technologies are used ethically, responsibly, and in the service of Christ. The curriculum is built on core business principles, providing graduates with a solid foundation in business while integrating AI applications to develop highly sought-after skills.

The Bachelor of Science in Hospitality and Tourism Management will prepare students to be leaders in an industry that is a significant contributor to Tennessee’s economy. The curriculum provides a strong business foundation within the region’s only Christ-centered program of its kind. Immersive learning experiences such as virtual tours, simulations and required work/internships in the hospitality and tourism field provides valuable hands-on opportunities.

Eppling says that Carson-Newman is uniquely equipped to offer such courses.

“The biblical worldview that Carson-Newman integrates into its curriculum and the prestigious faculty at C-N teaching these courses will ensure that our students will be well prepared to serve and lead in whatever context the Lord leads them to pursue.”
