DR TEAMS NEEDED IN MISSOURI, WEST TENNESSEE

August 24, 2023

By Baptist and Reflector

Editor’s note: This story, originally published on Aug. 23, was updated on Aug. 24 to include the information about West Tennessee.

Wes Jones, disaster relief specialist for the Tennessee Baptist Mission Board, has placed a call-out for Tennessee Baptist Disaster Relief flood recovery teams that can respond  in Glenallen, Mo.

According to reports, the Glenallen area received up to eight inches of rain in a matter of hours (as of Aug. 23), and the heavy downfall caused flash flooding in the region, Jones said.

DR teams that are able to respond will be housed in Marble Hill, Mo.

Jones said those who are available to send a team should contact Elizabeth Holmes (eholmes@tnbaptist.org) as soon as possible.

Meanwhile in West Tennessee, Beulah Baptist Association has requested rebuild teams to respond in Union City. Jones said teams are needed to put up drywall/paneling, and put down subfloors and snap-lock or laminate flooring. Some teams may need to move some furniture, too, he said.

The association wants to start rebuilding on Saturday, Sept. 9, but can make other dates work. Beulah Baptist Association has received many donations and will be paying for the materials and having them delivered.
Jones said housing will be in local churches (open style in family life center), and team members will need to bring their own air mattresses, toiletries, etc. Teams will be fed by the association.
Those available to respond in West Tennessee should contact the association office directly at 731-885-2151 or email marshall@bbaol.org if interest in serving. B&R
