FORT WORTH, Texas — Following Paige Patterson’s termination by a 12-member committee of the Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary trustees, reactions have ranged from affirmation of the trustees to defense of Patterson.
The seminary has canceled planned on-campus events in conjunction with the June 12-13 Southern Baptist Convention annual meeting in Dallas, and at least two of Patterson’s speaking engagements at ancillary meetings have been canceled. Patterson has not said whether he will deliver the convention sermon in Dallas, a task messengers at the 2017 SBC annual meeting elected him to fulfill. [Read more…]

FRANKLIN — As May comes to a close and schools are out for the summer, Tennessee Baptist churches are gearing up for Vacation Bible School.
Vacation Bible School provides churches an opportunity to fulfill the Great Commission, said Vicki Hulsey, childhood specialist for the Tennessee Baptist Mission Board.

ATHENS — Tucked away amid the Athens countryside, County Road 655 is the long and winding path that leads the way to the Women at the Well facility.
The road is not especially easy to navigate, and drivers have to maintain their focus in order not to miss any of the numerous turns while making the slow climb to the top of the hill.
In many ways, the challenging trek is a fitting metaphor for the journey that many women will experience during their stay at Women at the Well — a residential, Christ-centered program for women recovering from drug and alcohol addiction and other life-controlling problems. [Read more…]
