TBMB WEBSITE HITS ‘THE BIG 2-0’

Since its launch in 1998, site has seen upgrades, redesigns and expansion

This photo shows the TBMB’s home page in 2008 — 10 years after its initial launch. At this point, the site had already undergone numerous changes and upgrades, and it has continued to evolve as technology improves.

FRANKLIN — Although there was no cake or balloons to mark the occasion, the Tennessee Baptist Mission Board recently celebrated a birthday for one its most important team members: The TBMB website.

With little fanfare but plenty of significance, the site hit the 20-year mark in June. [Read more…]

FRANKLIN  — “Win TN” will be the theme of the 2018 Summit, set for Nov. 11-14, at West Jackson Baptist Church in Jackson.

TENNESSEE BAPTISTS INDICATE COOPERATIVE PROGRAM OPTIMISM

FRANKLIN — Tennessee Baptists indicated their strong support of the Cooperative Program in a recent survey conducted by the Tennessee Baptist Mission Board, with more than 26 percent of those surveyed saying they anticipated their churches would increase Cooperative Program giving in 2019.

The survey conducted between July 26 and Aug. 9, 2018, was designed to better understand how strongly Tennessee Baptists felt about the Cooperative Program and the future of Cooperative Program giving. More than 1,000 people responded to the survey which was comprised of both quantitative and qualitative questions. [Read more…]

TBDR PREPARES FOR FLORENCE

FRANKLIN — Tennessee Baptist Disaster Relief has been placed on alert status as Hurricane Florence barrels toward the East Coast.

The category 4 hurricane is expected to hit the Carolinas on Sept. 13, continuing into the next day, according to The Weather Channel. Mandatory evacuation orders have been issued in North and South Carolina and Virginia, according to other news reports. [Read more…]

HARRIMAN — It appeared that the best laid plans of Pine Ridge Baptist Church were falling apart, but God intervened.

Last year Pine Ridge sponsored its first IGNITE basketball camp which was a successful outreach tool, said pastor Michael Koontz.

“After what we saw in 2017 we were very excited for 2018,” the pastor said. “And then, just a couple of months before camp, things fell apart,” he said, noting that the venue they used last year  was up for sale and not available. [Read more…]

Former Baptist editor and longtime Baptist communicator Trennis Henderson and his wife Pam will be traveling across the nation in their new RV writing missions stories for national Woman’s Missionary Union.

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. — The rumble of the on-board generator lent a muffled, but noticeable, undertone as Trennis and Pam Henderson gave a tour of their new home.

Outfitted with all the modern comforts and conveniences expected in a 21st century home — if not in somewhat smaller proportions —- the Hendersons’ new home is a 24-foot-long Winnebago RV.

Since Aug. 1, the couple has been taking their RV across the country, working together to share the stories of Woman’s Missionary Union’s (WMU) various ministries with a new generation of Southern Baptists. [Read more…]
