LEXINGTON — With a three-step approach, First Baptist Church, Lexington, is making giant strides in its commitment to mission work in Tennessee.
Two years ago, the church adopted a mission strategy that focused on taking the gospel “across the street, across the states and across the seas.” The local component of the plan has led to a dramatic increase in the church’s giving through the Golden Offering for Tennessee Missions — from $805 in 2016 to nearly $17,000 this past year. FRANKLIN — In 2016-17, Tennessee Baptists gave a record $1,843,511.03 through the Golden Offering for Tennessee Missions.
A year later, Tennessee Baptists followed that record amount with the second highest total ever given — $1,797,423.72

FRANKLIN — Tennessee Baptists indicated their strong support of the Cooperative Program in a recent survey conducted by the Tennessee Baptist Mission Board, with more than 26 percent of those surveyed saying they anticipated their churches would increase Cooperative Program giving in 2019.
The survey conducted between July 26 and Aug. 9, 2018, was designed to better understand how strongly Tennessee Baptists felt about the Cooperative Program and the future of Cooperative Program giving. More than 1,000 people responded to the survey which was comprised of both quantitative and qualitative questions. [Read more…]

FRANKLIN — Tennessee Baptist Disaster Relief has been placed on alert status as Hurricane Florence barrels toward the East Coast.
The category 4 hurricane is expected to hit the Carolinas on Sept. 13, continuing into the next day, according to The Weather Channel. Mandatory evacuation orders have been issued in North and South Carolina and Virginia, according to other news reports. [Read more…]
