CLEVELAND — Roc Collins, pastor of Indian Springs Baptist Church, Kingsport, will be nominated as president of the Tennessee Baptist Convention during The Summit, scheduled for Nov. 10-11 at First Baptist Church, Millington.
Allan Lovelace, pastor of Waterville Baptist Church, Cleveland, informed the Baptist and Reflector May 22 of his intention to nominate Collins.
Collins is currently serving as chair of the Executive Board of the Tennessee Baptist Convention.
“Dr. Collins has a passion for evangelism that supports the vision and direction of our convention,” Lovelace said.
“I believe his leadership will help motivate and focus our churches to spark a resurgence in baptisms, as we target the three million plus lost people of Tennessee,” he added.
Lovelace noted that under Collins’ leadership, Indian Springs baptized 82 people last year and gave nearly 10 percent of its undesignated receipts through the Cooperative Program.
“Dr. Collins has served in a variety of leadership roles in the TBC and he is ready to accept this position, if given the honor and privilege by TBC messengers to serve in this capacity,” Lovelace said.
Names of other candidates will be announced as they are released to the paper.
