FRANKLIN — Tennessee Baptist Convention churches have reached a monumental milestone during the convention’s 150th anniversary year.
When Cooperative Program gifts were counted at Tennessee Baptist Mission Board offices on Dec. 6, the final tally pushed the total Cooperative Program gifts since the CP was established in 1925 in Memphis to more than $1.5 billion.
“Our state crossed the $1 billion mark in the summer of 2010 after 85 years of giving through the Cooperative Program,” said Randy C. Davis, TBMB president and executive director (see his Clarity column HERE).
“It has taken less than 15 years for the next half of a billion dollars to be given by Tennessee Baptists through CP,” he observed.
“It was very kind of the Lord to orchestrate this monumental moment coming as we conclude the celebration of our Tennessee Baptist Convention’s 150th anniversary and as we get ready to embark on the celebration of the hundredth anniversary in 2025 of the birth of the Cooperative Program,” he added.
“As we humbly thank the Lord for His provision over the years, may we also be recommitted to wise stewardship of the resources He places in our hands to get Kingdom work accomplished.” B&R
