Baptist and Reflector
FRANKLIN – David Dawson has joined the Communications Team of the Tennessee Baptist Mission Board as communications specialist, effective July 11.
Dawson formerly served as assistant athletics communications director at Vanderbilt University in Nashville and as sports editor of the Rome News-Tribune in Rome, Ga.
He is a graduate of Berry College in Rome and has earned awards for his writing from the Georgia Press Association and the Georgia Sports Writers Association.
In his new role, Dawson will work closely with the Baptist and Reflector team to write and edit stories for both the print issue and the website. He will manage the B&R’s website and Facebook pages as well as other social media outlets. Dawson also will produce the Radio B&R podcasts.
In addition, Dawson will be involved with social media and other duties for the Communications Team.
“We had some very solid candidates for the position,” said Chris Turner, director of communications for the TBMB.
“However, David’s long history in newspaper and his diversity of organizational communications experience set him apart. We look forward to him being a part of our team as we tell the story of Tennessee Baptists and Tennessee Baptist churches.”
Dawson and his wife, April, have two sons, Jonah and Luke. They are members of The Fellowship at Two Rivers, Nashville.
