FRANKLIN — Wes Jones, disaster relief specialist for the Tennessee Baptist Mission Board, issued a callout on Wednesday, Aug. 14, for flood recovery trained volunteers for response in Georgia, New York, Pennsylvania and possibly South Carolina.
The recovery efforts come in the aftermath of Hurricane Debby, a slow-moving and erratic Category 1 hurricane that caused widespread flooding across the southeastern United States in early August.
Jones’ email stated:
“Over the next three weeks, we have been requested to send trained flood recovery teams to Georgia, New York, Pennsylvania, and possibly South Carolina after they finish their assessments. Should you choose to go to Pennsylvania, you will need to take a feeding person and a chaplain with your team.”
Jones asked that available volunteers and teams contact the TBDR team and provide your team’s preference on location or your willingness to serve in any of the above-mentioned states.
“We can (then) give you more details once we have this information,” Jones said in the email.
Teams willing to respond should contact Tennessee DR at wjones@tnbaptist.org; eholmes@tnbaptist.org and gmaddox@tnbaptist.org.
