Baptist and Reflector
FRANKLIN — Tennessee Baptists have reached the goal for the Golden Offering for Tennessee Missions for the first time since 2007-08.
As of July 8, gifts to the Golden Offering for Tennessee Missions stood at $2,100,517.16, exceeding the 2021-22 goal of $2.1 million and extending the record offering of $1,976,260 which was set in late April. There are still seven weeks to go in the current GOTM year.
“Tennessee Baptists have been used of the Lord to accomplish a stewardship miracle for Great Commission work across our state,” said Randy C. Davis, president and executive director of the Tennessee Baptist Mission Board.
“To every GOTM-giving church and individual: thank you! You are in a rapidly growing number of Christ followers embracing the fact that ‘Tennessee is a mission field, any way you slice it.’ ”
Vickie Anderson, executive director of Tennessee Woman’s Missionary Union, noted that W.C. & Mildred Golden cast the vision for a state missions offering and season of prayer 120 years ago. The first offering in 1902 received $800, she recalled.
“Tennessee Baptists have continued to be faithful and generous in their giving to the state missions offering, named after the Goldens in 1943,” she said.
“I am grateful and excited that Tennessee Baptists have given over $2.1 million to the Golden Offering with seven weeks still to go in the 2021-22 offering year.
“Along with financial gifts, Tennessee Baptists are also very active in praying and doing hands-on missions and ministry in their community, association and across the state. We will continue to work together to share the hope and truth of the gospel and reach our mission field — Tennessee,” Anderson continued.
“We give God the glory for what He has done and will do.”
