SEVIERVILLE — East Tennessee Baptist Association director of missions Mike Hensley will be nominated as second vice president of the Tennessee Baptist Convention.
Dan Spencer, pastor of First Baptist Church, Sevierville, notified the Baptist and Reflector on Nov. 2 of his intentions to nominate Hensley.
“Mike Hensley brings to the table decades of faithful and effective pastoral ministry and a solid record of associational leadership, most recently in the aftermath of flooding in East Tennessee,” Spencer said.
“As director of missions, Bro. Mike has worked tirelessly to coordinate relief efforts and to support churches in Cocke County,” Spencer added.
“His gentle spirit and servant’s heart make him the ideal candidate,” Spencer concluded.
Hensley has served ETBA as director of missions for three years.
Prior to that he served as pastor of Swannsylvania Baptist Church in Dandridge for 36 years.
During that time he was active in the association for many years, having served as vice moderator, moderator, treasurer and stewardship chairman.
He also has served on the Committee on Boards for the Tennessee Baptist Mission Board and is a past chairman of the committee.
He currently is a member of the steering team for the Arise and Build Task Force.
Hensley and his wife, Lynne, have two daughters and six grandchildren. B&R
