The PHILLIPS
Chris Phillips • Lead Church Planter
Journey Point Church, Stapleton
About my family:
Libby and I have been married since March of 2017. We crossed paths during my senior year of college at the University of Tennessee. Libby has a heartbeat for early childhood education and is currently a school teacher at Inspire Elementary School. We have four children: Tripp, Paxton, Rhett and Henley Grace. Libby and I are passionate about the local church, discipleship and building relationships for the purpose of pointing people to a relationship with Jesus. We are excited to open our home and lives to the people of Denver in the community of Stapleton, where we feel a lifetime call.
About my church plant:
Journey Point is a new church plant just six miles northeast of downtown Denver. The average age is 33.4 years and there are two kids per home. Journey Point, which launched on Feb. 10, 2019, exists to point people toward a journey with Jesus.
Ministry quote:
“People in this community are going to have to know that they can belong way before they can believe what you believe. … It’s going to take consistent relationship building over a long period of time, so that they can build trust, so that they’ll come and kick the doors and see what’s going on.”
Prayer needs:
Pray for churches with whom we partner to send out missionary teams to help us and for receptive hearts among the people in Stapleton where we are serving.

The SHERFEYS
Derick Sherfey • Lead Church Planter
The Oaks Church, Glendale
About my family:
My wife, Cayla, and I have been together for 10 years and have two children: Beau and Adalyn. I served on the staff of Tri-Cities Baptist Church in Johnson City from 2011-17. Tri-Cities is the church in which my wife was raised and the church that introduced me to what it means to follow Jesus. I served in student ministry for several years before coming on staff as college pastor and was later sent out to plant our first multi-site congregation, where I served for five years as lead teaching pastor. I was then sent to Denver to plant churches.
About my church plant:
The Oaks Church exists to enjoy and follow Jesus and to help others enjoy and follow Jesus. In a beautiful and broken city like Denver, we long for the beauty of God to be on display and His kingdom to break through in the neighborhoods of Denver and among all nations through lives transformed as “oaks of righteousness” (Isaiah 61). We believe this happens as we join God in what He is doing.
Ministry quote:
“One of the big lessons we’ve learned is that God requires obedience, not success.”
Prayer needs:
Pray for our team’s joy in Jesus. Pray God will save people as we seek to be faithful, to be good neighbors and faithful disciples in southeast Denver. Pray for the growth of strategic partnerships with churches, organizations and individuals.

The HENDRICHS
Bruce Hendrich • Lead Church Planter
Grandview Church, Mead
About my family:
Lisa and I have been married for 40 years. We have two grown sons, Brent and Mark and a new granddaughter, Ella. I grew up in northeastern Colorado on a family farm and ranch. During my undergraduate studies I met Lisa, a native of Tennessee. She is a registered nurse and a medical research coordinator. She currently works in a medical research clinic in Boulder. Most recently, I was the senior pastor of Oak Street Baptist Church, Elizabethon, for 19 years.
About my church plant:
After 16 months of meeting in our home and developing the DNA of Grandview Church, we launched weekly public worship gatherings at Mead Middle School in April of 2017. Since that time, well over a hundred people consider Grandview their church home. We have also been privileged to baptize 18 new believers thus far. We serve our community through multiple venues, bringing our church to many who may never come to our church. We pray that as we show the love of Christ to the unchurched, we will also have the opportunity to share the love of Christ.
Ministry quote:
“Living in Denver has made us much more committed to living out the Christian life as a platform for having people ask us why we do what we do.”
Prayer needs:
Pray that the Lord of the Harvest will continue to send out workers to help us in His harvest field in northern Colorado (Luke 10:2), that the Lord will help us build a church of disciples to make disciples and a church that plants other churches. Also, pray that God will continue to give us favor with the community and the vast numbers of unchurched people who live here.

The MANUALS
Parker Manual • Lead Church Planter
Pinewood Church, Boulder
About my family:
I have been married to my wife, Jess, for seven years. We have four adventurous kids: Ryan, Cory, Neriah, and Sylah. Jess and I have served in a variety of different ministry roles over the past 14 years, including overseas. In the spring of 2015 we took a cross-country trip to celebrate the adoption of two boys. We spent time praying through strategic cities. The Lord had been drawing our hearts to planting a church in the West for several years. I’ll never forget the favor and peace we felt on our first visit. It was then we knew God was calling us to plant a church in Boulder, Colo. In 2017, we were commissioned to serve as missionaries and church planters in the heart of Boulder. We believe God is at work in Boulder and we are excited to play a big part in the big things He is already doing.
About my church plant:
The purpose of Pinewood Church is to love extravagantly by risking it all to bring the hope of Jesus to the world. Our prayer is that as the Word goes out, what is unrighteous will be made righteous and what is hard soil will become fertile ground (Isaiah 55:6-13). We are engaging the people in the heart of the city with a desire to see those who are far from God come into a loving relationship with Jesus Christ.
Ministry quote:
“I feel like there are a lot of believers in this city that have a bad understanding of Scripture … and that they really need to come back to the core truths of God’s Word.”
Prayer needs:
Pray for protection over our kids, our home and our church. Also, pray for revival, and out of that revival, a great awakening in the city of Boulder.
