Baptist and Reflector
FRANKLIN — Nashville native Kevin Minchey has been chosen to serve as team leader for church revitalization for the Tennessee Baptist Mission Board, effective Jan. 1.
Minchey, who has been a part-time CR specialist for nearly three years, also is the director of missions for Concord Baptist Association, based in Murfreesboro. He will continue in that role through Dec. 31.
Prior to becoming the DOM in Concord Association, Minchey served as pastor of First Baptist Church, Shelbyville, for nine years.
In his new role, Minchey will coordinate church revitalization efforts throughout the state. Church revitalization is one of the Five Objectives of the Tennessee Baptist Convention adopted by messengers to the annual meeting in 2014. The goal in CR is to see 500 Tennessee churches revitalized by 2024.
“I hope to help our churches exceed our goal of 500 churches revitalized,” Minchey said. There are hundreds more churches throughout the state that need to experience revitalization, he added.
“I hope to help churches find ways to overcome the obstacles that keep them from fulfilling their potential,” Minchey said.
Minchey will be based in Murfreesboro. For information about church revitalization, e-mail him at kminchey@tnbaptist.org.
