JACKSON — Jonathan Pennington, professor of New Testament interpretation at Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, will be the plenary speaker at Union University’s 2024 Ryan Center Bible Conference March 22-23.

The conference will examine the Sermon on the Mount and will be held in Union’s Carl Grant Events Center.

In addition to his faculty position at SBTS, Pennington is one of the teaching pastors at Sojourn East in Louisville, Ky., and regularly speaks and teaches in churches across the country. He is the author of several books, including Reading the Gospels Wisely, The Sermon on the Mount and Human Flourishing, Jesus the Great Philosopher and Come and See: The Journey of Knowing God through Scripture.

The first 50 registrants for the conference will receive a copy of Come and See through a gift from Crossway Publishers.

The conference is sponsored by Union’s Ryan Center for Biblical Studies and is aimed at helping people understand and apply the Bible. In addition to Pennington, four others will lead breakout sessions – Union professors Kelvin Moore and Justin Wainscott; Russ Quinn, associate pastor Englewood Baptist Church in Jackson, Tenn.; and Benjamin Quinn, associate professor of theology at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary.

The conference cost is $30 per person before March 17, when the cost will increase to $50. The price includes the sessions and three meals. Registration closes March 21.

More information and online registration are available at uu.edu/centers/biblical/bible-conference/2024.

The Ryan Center exists to promote thoughtful and disciplined reading, study, interpretation and application of the Bible in the church throughout the world. The center houses a model library for the study of the Scriptures, which is open to the public. Every year the center hosts a spring Bible study conference. B&R
