FRANKLIN — The Tennessee Baptist Mission Board is sponsoring Prayer Outreach Conference 2022 on Saturday, Oct. 1, from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. at First Baptist Church, Lexington.

“The WinTN revitalization strategy appropriately begins with one word: Pray! Every part of the effectiveness of this strategy depends on prayer,” said Clay Hallmark, host pastor and president of the Tennessee Baptist Convention.

Quoting Leonard Ravenhill (an English Christian evangelist and author who focused on the subjects of prayer and revival) who said, “Where there is no prayer, there is no power,” Hallmark said he wants “to see God’s power at work in the lives of our people and churches in Tennessee. For this reason, we are hosting what will be the first of several prayer conferences throughout the state starting on Oct. 1.”

The primary speaker will be Dwayne Moore, author of HE. WE. THEY. The Life-Altering Formula of the Model Prayer. The book is the foundation of a prayer campaign based on the Lord’s Prayer, Hallmark noted.

“The event is designed to not just talk about prayer, but to actually have times of dedicated and directed prayer for revival, revitalization and the lost to be saved and set on the road to discipleship,” Hallmark said.

Mark Miller

The passion of the baptism-discipleship team of the Tennessee Baptist Mission Board is to serve churches to win their harvest field, observed team leader Mark Miller. “If every church wins their harvest field, then we will win our harvest field.   If churches are going to win their harvest field, it must begin with prayer and end with prayer,” he stressed.

The conference is titled “Prayer Outreach Conference” for a reason, Miller continued “Every church prays.  Every Sunday School class has a time of prayer weekly.  But the reality is that most of the prayers are focused on “we” not “they.”

Miller related that David Evans, pastor of Springfield Baptist Church, Springfield, wrote in Winning Our Harvest Field that “a prayerless Christian is a non-evangelistic Christian.”

“We must pray but we must not just pray for our needs. … We must become burdened that people are dying without Christ and will spend eternity in Hell,” Miller said.

The conference is free to anyone who attends and includes a copy of Moore’s book and lunch.

Hallmark said three more prayer conferences will be held in 2023 throughout the three grand divisions of the state. “We want to get Tennessee Baptists praying and seeking God in a new and powerful way,” he said.
