LifeWay Research released a new poll on Feb. 3 asking the question, “Does God care who wins the Super Bowl?
Surprisingly, one in 10 actually thinks God cares whether this year’s Super Bowl will be won by the Denver Broncos or the Carolina Panthers. One in 20 say they don’t know.
My best guess? God could care less. He’s more interested in redeeming lost souls than He is over who wins a football game on Sunday.
And, I image He would prefer that Christians spend more time planning on how to witness to their lost friends than they do on planning their Super Bowl party Sunday night.
Yet, the Super Bowl is a significant part of today’s culture and both Christians and non-Christians will be gathered around the television set in droves on Sunday night.
I know God doesn’t care who wins, but just in case, I hope He causes an extra gust of wind to blow a potential Carolina Panther winning field goal a tad left or a tad right. Sounds strange coming from a die-hard South Carolina Gamecock fan, but it would be nice to see Tennessee Volunteer legend Peyton Manning go out as a Super Bowl winner one more time.
