BRENTWOOD — A Tennessee Baptist pastor and a layman will write Sunday School commentaries for the March – May quarter.
Gene Price, pastor of Tumbling Creek Baptist Church, Gleason, will write the Bible Studies for Life series.
A native of Somerville, Price was licensed and ordained into the ministry by Williston Baptist Church, Williston.
He is a graduate of the University of Tennessee, Martin; Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, Fort Worth, Texas; and Trinity Theological Seminary, Newburg, Ind., where he earned the doctor of ministry degree.
In addition to his pastorate, Price is an adjunct professor of Old and New Testament at Bethel University, McKenzie.
Price has been active in both associational (Weakley County Baptist Association) and the Tennessee Baptist Convention work. He has served on both the Committee on Resolutions and Constitution and Bylaws Committee.
He and his wife Trish have two grown daughters.
Ken Speakman, a layman at Tulip Grove Baptist Church, Old Hickory, will write the Explore the Bible series.
Speakman is retired after serving 34 years as an executive with The Gideons International, based in Nashville, including the last 22 years of his career as director of the international division. His responsibilities included the management and development of the Gideons’ work in countries outside the United States.
He has traveled to more than 80 countries and every state on behalf of the Gideons.
Speakman is a deacon and teaches a Bible class at Tulip Grove and is a former member and past chairman of the board of trustees for LifeWay Christian Resources, Nashville.
He also is a past chairman of the Middle Tennessee area Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
He and his wife, Reba, have three daughters and six granddaughters.
