TBMB TO PROVIDE WEBINAR FOR PLANNING EASTER SERVICES

FRANKLIN — The Tennessee Baptist Mission Board is offering a “Practical Easter Webinar” for medium to smaller attendance Tennessee Baptist churches on Monday, April 6, at 6:30 central time/7:30 eastern time.

“None of us anticipated a day when a worldwide pandemic would prevent our people from gathering on Easter,” observed Bill Choate, director of Baptist Collegiate Ministries for the TBMB. 

The webinar will give participants an opportunity to explore “simple, effective ways that God can be glorified and honored in your church on an unusual Easter Day,” Choate said. [Read more…]

PANDEMIC PROVIDES OPPORTUNITY TO ‘THRIVE ON OUR MISSION’

FRANKLIN — As the coronavirus pandemic continues to spread, Christians can draw encouragement from Scripture and the history of the church, said Randy C. Davis, president and executive director of the Tennessee Baptist Mission Board.

In comments March 16 to a group of pastors across the state via a conference call and later to TBMB staff, Davis said the church has always faced “the most difficult moments with courage, hope and help. Both our character and Christ will be revealed by our response to this crisis.”

Davis challenged the pastors and TBMB staff to “look at this moment as the greatest opportunity in our lifetimes to do something great for God. We will not simply do the best we can and we will not simply survive. … Our goal is more than just surviving as a ministry, but to thrive on our mission. [Read more…]

Tennessee Baptists are strongly encouraged to go online at www.tnbaptist.org/boardrec and make recommendations of fellow Tennessee Baptists to serve on the Tennessee Baptist Mission Board, one of the seven institutional boards of trust, or one of the eight convention committees, all of which carry on the work of the convention between sessions of the convention. TENNESSEE CHURCHES AMONG NATION’S LARGEST, FASTEST GROWING

NASHVILLE — Thirty-four Southern Baptist congregations are among the fastest growing and largest evangelical churches in the latest Outreach 100 tally compiled by Outreach Magazine and LifeWay Research.

“Tracking the fastest growing churches gives us a glimpse into some of the most effective ministry work in America,” LifeWay Research Executive Director Scott McConnell told Baptist Press. “These congregations have the privilege of seeing many lives changed while maintaining the ability to adapt quickly and do ministry in a scalable way.” [Read more…]
