BRENTWOOD — Tennessee Baptist Convention churches gave $3,204,689 through the Cooperative Program in October.
The strong showing enabled the TBC to finish the 2013-14 fiscal year with $34,032,296 in CP receipts.
The amount fell just short ($256,650 or 0.7 percent) of matching last year’s total giving of $34,288,947.
This year’s CP total also fell shy of the budget goal of $36,500,000 by $2,467,704 or 6.76 percent.
In January, giving through the Cooperative Program was about 16 percent below what was given at the same time last year, observed Randy C. Davis, TBC executive director/treasurer.
“Tennessee Baptists, however, rose to the challenge and fell less than 1 percent of matching last year’s total giving,” he said. “We give God all the glory for this miracle.”
Davis noted that through the Cooperative Program, “Tennessee Baptists are working with Great Commission partners to share the good news of Jesus Christ in Tennessee, throughout our nation, and around the world.”
