FRANKLIN — Tennessee Baptist Convention churches gave $2,775,621 through the Cooperative Program in March.
After five months of the 2017-18 fiscal year, Tennessee Baptists have given $14,674,290.
The total is $59,461 or 0.4 percent over the amount given during the same time frame last year. It also is $299,290 or 2.08 percent over current budgeted needs.
“Being slightly ahead of our TBC Cooperative Program Missions and Ministries Budget projected needs near the halfway point of the fiscal year is what we would hope for,” said Randy C. Davis, president and executive director of the Tennessee Baptist Mission Board.
“We praise the Lord for this solid financial position,” he said.
Davis observed that churches throughout the convention are beginning to formulate their ministry and missions budget for the coming year.
“I would passionately and plainly ask our church leaders to carefully consider taking steps toward increasing, by faith, the financial support through the Cooperative Program to local and global Great Commission work of compassion ministries, orphan care, missionary work, and ministry preparation through our seminaries and Christian universities,” Davis said.
