NEW ORLEANS — Tennessee Baptist Mission Board staff members Chris Turner, Lonnie Wilkey and David Dawson were among the winners in the 2022 awards competition sponsored by the Baptist Communicators Association.
Turner won a first place award for “The Ugly Cry of College Goodbyes” in the news writing, single article, less than 750 words category. Turner also earned a second place award for “A Stern Word for Christian Social Media Trolls” in the news writing, opinion/editorial category, and a third place award for “Simone Biles and a Torched Witness” in the opinion/editorial category.
Wilkey earned a third place award for “Machines (and the World) Can Be Wrong” in the feature writing, first person column/blog single entry category.
Turner and Wilkey also won a first place award for “ERLC Leaders Accused of ‘Blatant Deception’ ” in the news writing, investigative reporting category.
Dawson won a third place award in the design, publications/newspaper category for the Baptist and Reflector.
“I’ve been a part of Baptist Communicators Association for 25 years and I believe the level of competition among SBC communications professionals is at its highest since I’ve been affiliated with BCA,” Turner said. “So for us to win six awards is a real honor.” B&R
