ASSOCIATIONS

Lawrence County Baptist Association is sponsoring “Returning to Holiness Through Spiritual Renewal” April 22-25. Sessions and locations include Summertown Baptist Church, Summertown, April 21, 7 p.m.; April 22, 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. and 7 p.m.; First Baptist Church, Loretto, 6:30 p.m., April 23; Leoma Baptist Church, Leoma, 6:30 p.m., April 24; and Macedonia Baptist Church, Lawrenceburg, 6:30 p.m., April 25. Gregory Frizzell, founder and president of Gregory Frizzell Prayer & Renewal Ministries, will lead the sessions.

Robertson County Baptist Association will hold its semi-annual meeting April 17 at 6:30 a.m. at Cross Roads Baptist Church, Greenbrier. David Leavell, president of the Tennessee Baptist Convention and pastor of First Baptist Church, Millington, will speak about his vision for reaching the lost.

LEADERS

Cross Roads Baptist Church, Greenbrier, has called John Nelson as pastor, effective March 25. He and his wife, Amber, have two daughters, Adelyn and Brantley. The church is appreciative to Joe Donald King who served as supply pastor over the past 17 months.

Center Point Baptist Church, Springfield, recently called Chris Mays as pastor. He and his wife, Jennifer, have three daughters. They began their ministry at the church on April 1.

Pastor Troy George of Orlinda Baptist Church, Orlinda, and his family are moving to Arkansas to serve at a Christian camp.

Cody Dean, pastor of Epiphany Baptist Church, Springfield, has accepted the call as associate pastor of a church in Kentucky.

CHURCHES

Mount Moriah Baptist Church, Whiteville, will hold revival services April 29-May 2 with guest evangelist Harold Hunter. Services will begin at 11 a.m. on Sunday and 7 p.m., Sunday-Wednesday nights.

First Baptist Church, Manchester, will host “The Crimson Gospel, featuring the Robertson Family” on Sunday, April 15, at 6 p.m.

Evangelist Phil Glisson of Memphis will speak during revival services April 29-May 2 at Allen Baptist Church, Brownsville.

First Baptist Church, Dresden, will host a Priscilla Shirer Simulcast & Worship with Tony Evans on April 28 from 8 a.m.-3:35 p.m., with registration beginning at 7:15 a.m. There is no charge for the simulcast and lunch is available for $12 with a ticket which can be purchased through the church office by April 19. EVENTS

Oak Valley Baptist Church is hosting “An Evening with Angie Smith” — the author of Bible Study, Seamless — on April 27 at 7:30 p.m. at Oak Valley Baptist Church, 1161 Lewisburg Pike, Franklin, 37064. This is a free event, but space is limited so please register at www.oakvalleybaptistchurch.org.

Western District Baptist Association recently recognized Thomas Winchester, center, and his wife, Linda, as the longest tenured pastor at the association’s Executive Board meeting in February. He observed his 30th anniversary as pastor of Union Friendship Baptist Church, Como. He has been in the ministry for more than 60 years and has held numerous positions in the association. With the Winchesters is Jim Twilbeck, director of missions for Western District.
The month of February was designated as the Month of Love. At Salem Baptist Church, Dayton, the Children in Action & Youth on Mission Groups and the group leaders celebrated the month-long project with a mission fair showing their love for missions. On Feb. 25, the church celebrated its fourth annual missions fair following the morning worship service. The congregation and friends visited booths as students displayed tri-fold project boards with pictures and points of interest, items and food, from their selected city. While guests walked from table to table and sampled cuisine, the students gave more information about the cities. Maddie Walls did the display from Cairo.
During the week of Feb. 10-17, six members from Cedar Hill Baptist Church, Baxter, served in Houston, Texas, to help rebuild homes damaged by Hurricane Harvey. The team worked with Texas Baptist Men. Cedar Hill volunteers worked in two homes, handed out Bibles, and ministered to family members and others in the area. Mount Olivet Baptist Church took a group on March 1 to celebrate the birthday of long-standing church member Richard Stephens at a Mount Juliet nursing home. He was moved to the facility following a diagnosis of brain cancer, and passed away shortly after this gathering.
