LEADERS

Clear Creek Baptist Church, Dyer, called Steve Hemann as pastor, effective Nov. 1.

Chris Sumner has been called as youth pastor by White Hall Baptist Church, Trenton.

Short Creek Baptist Church, Athens, has called Will Davis as pastor, effective Nov. 8.

Garry Duncan began serving as pastor of South Liberty Baptist Church, Athens, on Nov. 15.

DEATHS

William H. “Bill” Davis died Nov. 19 at the age of 73. He was pastor of Biltmore Baptist Church, Elizabethton. Davis, a bivocational pastor, was a welding and metal shop teacher at Happy Valley High School in Elizabethton for 35 years. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Jackie F. Davis, and four children.

Barbara Ann Murrell, 80 died Dec. 3 at her home in Rockford. She served as a pastor’s wife for 58 years. Her husband, Charles Murrell is pastor of Hillcrest Baptist Church, Maryville. They were married for 62 years.

Southside Baptist Church, Savannah, recently honored their pastor, Benny Taylor and his wife Judy with a retirement reception. After 40 years of faithful service they have retired. They will live in Memphis where they will be near their daughters and their granddaughters.

Members of the Sanctuary Choir of First Baptist Church, Nashville, led by Joe Patrick, right center, pastor of worship and music, and Ken Varner (on keyboard), worship and music assistant, gathered Dec. 10 to sing carols for the staff of the Tennessee Baptist Mission Board at the Church Support Center in Franklin.
