EVENTS

The Weekday Early Education Conference, sponsored by the Tennessee Baptist Mission Board, will be held July 14 at First Baptist Church, Hendersonville, from 8:30 a.m.-4:15 p.m. The conference is for directors and teachers of any part-time or full-time preschool program. Six full hours of continuing education credit can be earned. Cost is $65 if registered after June 14. For more information, contact Jarrett Scott at 615-371-7905.

Steve Holt

LEADERS

Steve Holt, church services director for the Tennessee Baptist Mission Board, was honored for 15 years of service during the meeting of the Southern Baptist Conference of Associational Leaders held prior to the annual meeting of the Southern Baptist Convention in Dallas.

First Baptist Church, Manchester, recently called Meghan Clayton as preschool and children’s minister. She is a recent graduate of Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, Fort Worth, Texas. She will begin serving in July.

Morris Memorial Baptist Church, Moscow, recently held a “going away” luncheon for pastor Bryan Morris and family. He has been called to serve New Hope Baptist Church in Dyer.

ASSOCIATIONS

Fayette Baptist Association, based in Somerville, is sponsoring a summer missions trip to Oklahoma July 7-13 and a missions trip to Guatemala Sept. 6-11.

Thirteen volunteers from Gibson Baptist Association, based in Trenton, are serving in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, June 18-26. The association also is sending a team to West Central Baptist Association in Ohio to work in the towns of New Bremen and Minster. The association is seeking to start a new church in the area. The Gibson team will do prayer walking and various outreach activities.

Riverside Baptist Association, based in Livingston, is partnering with Josh George, a church planter in Connecticut, and Randall Curtis, a church replanter in Rhode Island. The association is sponsoring a missions trip to New England July 13-22.

DEATHS

Wallace Anderson, who served for 35 years as director of program services of the Tennessee Baptist Mission Board until his retirement in 1995, died June 11 in Nashville at the age of 87. He is survived by his daughter Gail Fisher. Anderson was preceded in death by his wife, Jane.

CHURCHES

The youth of First Baptist Church, Bluff City, recently participated in a summer missions trip to Cincinnati, Ohio.

Chapel Hill Baptist Church, Milan, will host a “Night of Champions” July 21 with special guest Josh Dobbs, former quarterback for the University of Tennessee and now with the  Pittsburgh Steelers. The tailgate dinner begins at 5 p.m. For more information, including cost, call the church at 731-686-0414. The church will also hold a Men’s Night Out on Aug. 10 featuring Jonathan Evans (son of Tony Evans) and Steve Gaines, pastor of Bellevue Baptist Church, Cordova, and past president of the Southern Baptist Convention.

Poplar Grove Baptist Church, Trenton, recently celebrated its 175th anniversary.

Members of Brownsville Baptist Church, Brownsville, will serve on a missions trip to Belize July 7-14.
