LEADERS

Dana Fachman, senior pastor of Meridian Baptist Church, Knoxville, for the past 34-and-a-half years plans to retire at the end of this year. Current and former church members and friends are invited to attend a reception for him on Nov. 11 in the Meridian Baptist Church Fellowship Hall from 1-4 p.m.

Ronnie Smith is serving as interim pastor of Mount Vernon Baptist Church, Sale Creek.

Rick Dixon has been called as interim pastor of Ogden Baptist Church, Dayton.

Larry Dearth, care and visitation pastor for Shiloh Baptist Church, Mount Juliet, since the church was formed in 2019, has announced his resignation, effective Oct. 15. He and his wife, Nancy, will be recognized for their contributions to the church that Sunday.

Josh Coffelt graduated from Crown College of the Bible in Powell, in May 2008 and was ordained in the same month. He has served as youth pastor of Gilead Baptist Church, Knoxville, as well as assistant pastor of Berea Baptist Church, Knoxville. He was called as interim pastor of Glenwood Baptist Church in June. On Sept. 10th, Glenwood voted to elect Coffelt as pastor.

Mason Goodman

DEATHS

Mason C. Goodman, retired pastor of Riverside Baptist Church, Harriman, died Sept. 8 at the age of 87. He was given the title pastor emeritus at Riverside after serving the church for 33 years. He then served as director of missions for Big Emory Baptist Association for nine years. He has been interim pastor at Chapman Grove Baptist Church, Kingston, the last five years. He is survived by his wife, Joyce Goodman, two children, and three grandchildren.

Kenneth Lee Martin, former pastor of East Walland Missionary Baptist Church, Walland, died Sept. 25 at the age of 73. He is survived by his wife, Donna, and a daughter.

ASSOCIATIONS
A five-member team from Clinton Baptist Association will serve Nov. 3-8 in Vueltas, Cuba. The team will help strengthen church plants and missionaries, lead a children’s conference and host a training conference for pastors and missionaries.

  • Ryan Keaton, left, of the Tennessee Baptist Mission Board, recently presented a plaque to Kirk Casey, director of missions for Cumberland Plateau Baptist Association for the association’s support of the 2022-23 Golden Offering for Tennessee Missions. Fifteen percent of the GOTM gifts from Cumberland Plateau Association was allotted back to the association for local ministry. The annual meeting was held Oct. 1 at Bethlehem Baptist Church, Crossville.
  • Riverview Baptist Church, a campus of Wallace Memorial Baptist Church in Knoxville since July 1, recently recognized and honored Frances Houser for more than 67 years of service as the Church Organist at Riverview BC.   • Several Tennessee Baptist ministers from across the state recently participated in the Off the Grid Motorcycle Tour at Carson Springs Baptist Conference Center. Off the Grid is a ministry of the Tennessee Baptist Mission Board’s conference centers that provide ministers the opportunity to get away briefly from the daily stresses of ministry. Participants included Clark Brown, Mark Cagle, Billy Carmack, Roc Collins, Scott Farmer, Jerry Jeter, Tim Key, Jeff Owens, Joel Pigg and Frank Webb.
  • Jim West recently celebrated his 30th anniversary as pastor of Petros Baptist Church, Petros. With him is his wife, Doris, and daughter, Rachel.
