He is a graduate of Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, Fort Worth, Texas, and holds a doctor of ministry degree from Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary in California. He has been in ministry for more than 20 years and has served as a missionary for the past eight years. A native of upstate South Carolina, Burdette and his wife, Nicole, have three daughters.

Thomas Foy resigned Oct. 3 as pastor of Kirk Baptist Church, Collierville.

John Gaylor has been called as worship leader at Warren Community Church, Somerville.

Tony Terrell has been called as interim pastor at First Baptist Church, Gleason.

CHURCHES

Union Baptist Church, Wartburg, will celebrate its 175th anniversary on Nov. 13-14. The Morgan County church was established on Nov. 16, 1846. The church will have a catered meal and fellowship on Saturday, Nov. 13, at 5 p.m. On Sunday, the service will be held at 11 a.m. with special singing and an anniversary message brought by Randy C. Davis, president and executive director of the Tennessee Baptist Mission Board. For more information, contact pastor Jason Lowe at 423-324-2450.

EVENTS

The West Tennessee Pastors Conference will meet Nov. 9 at Union University in Jackson. The meeting will be held at 10 a.m. in Coburn. Guest speaker will be Bartholomew Orr, senior pastor of Brown Missionary Baptist Church, Southaven, Miss.

DEATHS

Jack Gresham

Jack Nance Gresham of Willison died Oct. 3 at the age of 62. An Army veteran of 22 years, Gresham attended Mid-America Baptist Theological Seminary and served as single adult minister at Germantown Baptist Church, Germantown. In 2010, he was called as pastor of First Baptist Church, Macon, where he served until his death. He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Flotyl Gresham, three children, and a granddaughter.

Millie Brown, wife of Clark Brown, pastor of Sylvia Baptist Church, Dickson, died Sept. 10. The couple began serving together at Sylvia Baptist in 2004. She is survived by her husband, two sons and daughters-in-law and six grandchildren.
