Shawn Allred, pastor of First Baptist Church, Kenton, since 2016, was called as pastor of Hillcrest Baptist Church, Dyersburg, on July 9. His first Sunday was August 13. Allred has pastored churches in Tennessee and Arkansas and has been in the ministry since 1991, serving in youth, music, associate pastor and senior pastor roles. “I am excited to begin pastoring at Hillcrest Baptist Church and ministering in the harvest field of Dyersburg and surrounding areas. God is doing great things here at Hillcrest, and I know His faithfulness will continue to be evident to us as we serve this mission field together,” he said.
Brent Brewer has been called as pastor of Harvest View Baptist Church, Readyville.
Jeff Brown has been called as pastor of Jackson Ridge Baptist Church, Rockvale.
Bradleys Creek Baptist Church, Lascassas, recently called Dwayne Ewers as pastor.
Charlie Howell has been called as pastor of Grace Baptist Church, Murfreesboro.
Ronnie Smith is serving as interim pastor of Mount Vernon Baptist Church, Sale Creek.
EDUCATION
Carson-Newman University, Jefferson City, is a Tennessee VETS Campus according to the Tennessee Higher Education Commission. The news grants Carson-Newman the designation of having a Tennessee Veterans Education Transition Support Campus. By being a Tennessee VETS Campus, Carson-Newman prioritizes outreach to veterans and delivers services necessary to create a supportive environment where student veterans can prosper while pursuing their education. “When veterans are looking for a place to go to school after leaving the service and they see that logo on our website, they can feel confident that our university is going to do everything we can to help them be successful in school,” said Pat Bivens, C-N’s director of military and veterans services.
