LEADERS

David Mosher

David Mosher was recognized recently as Alumnus of the Year at The King’s Academy (formerly Harrison-Chilhowee Baptist Academy) in Seymour. Mosher has taught at The King’s Academy for 34 years. In addition, his wife, Jama, teaches at the academy and their three children are alumni of the school. The Moshers are members of First Baptist Church, Knoxville.

Victor Lyons, a member of Bellevue Baptist Church, Cordova, received his doctor of ministry degree May 18 from New Orleans (La.) Baptist Theological Seminary.

Charles Pratt, director of missions for Fayette Baptist Church, based in Somerville, is serving as interim pastor at First Baptist Church, Bolivar.

Vicki Hulsey

Michael Brown recently was called as pastor of Corinth Baptist Church, Sharon. In addition, the church will celebrate its 150th anniversary on June 23.

First Baptist Church, Adamsville, recently called Joe Cole as worship leader.

Vicki Hulsey, childhood specialist for the Tennessee Baptist Mission Board, recently celebrated her 15th anniversary with the TBMB. She formerly served as minister of preschool and children and later education staff coordinator at Hermitage Hills Baptist Church, Hermitage, where she is still a member.

David Evans

David Evans recently celebrated his fifth anniversary as evangelism specialist for the Tennessee Baptist Mission Board. He formerly served as pastor of Epiphany Baptist Church, Springfield. Evans and his wife Stephanie have two children.

Cole Campbell

Cole Campbell recently celebrated his fifth anniversary with the Tennessee Baptist Mission Board. He began working part-time at Linden Valley Baptist Conference Center in 2008 and became a full time staff member in 2014. He was named manager of Linden Valley last year after the retirement of Tim Bearden.

CHURCHES

New Salem Baptist Church, Dukedom, will celebrate its 150th anniversary on July 14. The celebration will begin at 10 a.m., followed by a meal.

Rutherford First Baptist Church will celebrate its 150th anniversary on June 30. The service will begin at 11 a.m., followed by a meal. A time capsule from 1969 will be opened.

ASSOCIATIONS

A team of volunteers from Weakley County Baptist Association will serve as part of City Reach Nashville July 13-19. The team will assist with construction projects and partner with a church to assist in a Vacation Bible School.

  • Construction is underway on Carson-Newman University’s new Randall O’Brien Veterans Center which will open later this year. Surveying the progress on the center are Ondes Webster, left, director of the physical plant, and Ross Brummett, senior vice president for student affairs.
  • A volunteer team from Riverside Baptist Association recently served at Carson Springs Baptist Conference Center in Newport. The team painted and did various “spruce up” projects at the conference center.   • Bradley’s Creek Baptist Church, Lascassas, recently celebrated its 200th anniversary. Bradley’s Creek was constituted as a church on May 19, 1819. Kevin Minchey, right, director of missions for Concord Baptist Association, based in Murfreesboro, presents a plaque to pastor Russell M. Richardson.
  • Mike Viles, center, director of missions for Northern/Midland Baptist Association, was honored by the Northern Association Woman’s Missionary Union on April 11 at Lone Mountain Baptist Church in Tazewell. Viles was joined in the photo by WMU director Sheila Hall, left, and Viles wife, Debbie, right. Viles was honored for his 19 years of service with the association and for being a friend of WMU. He will retire as DOM in September.
  • Hugh X Lewis, a member of Shiloh Baptist Church, Nashville, performed during a “Local Treasures” program May 18 at the Kentucky Bluegrass School of Music in Hyden, Ky. The event honored Leslie County (Ky.) firefighters as well as Lewis and Bobby Osborne (of “Rocky Top” fame). Both are natives of Hyden.   • Kelly Gibbs DeBord, center, (class of 1984) recently received The King’s Academy (formerly Harrison-Chilhowee Baptist Academy) 2019 Outstanding Alumna Award from Walter Grubb, left, president emeritus, and Matt Mercer, president/headmaster. DeBord currently seves as the sales/marketing/public relations coordinator for the city of Sevierville. She and her husband have two grown children and are members of Valley Grove Baptist Church, Knoxville.
