FRANKLIN — Wes Jones, disaster relief specialist for the Tennessee Baptist Mission Board, notified Tennessee Baptist DR teams to be on alert for possible deployment to either Alabama or Georgia to aid the recovery process after tornadoes swept through parts of both states. The alert was canceled on Jan. 17.
Jones said Tennessee Baptist DR is currently responding in Selma, Ala, where a chain saw team from West Tennessee has been deployed. Jones said that, as of Tuesday morning, the request for assistance in Selma has been the only request.
Jones said he and his team will continue to monitor the recovery efforts. He noted that State Directors from both states are putting plans together as they assess the damage.
Jones said, “As we await word, please keep those affected and the State Directors of the affected states in your prayers.” B&R
