MOUNT JULIET — Tennessee Baptist Disaster Relief has been placed on standby for possible response to storm damage earlier this week in Bartlett and surrounding communities in West Tennessee, according to Wes Jones, disaster relief specialist for the Tennessee Baptist Mission Board.
FOX 13 News in Memphis reported June 26 heavy storm damage in the Millington and Bartlett areas as well as Arlington and other areas of Memphis.
Jones said chaplains, assessors, chainsaw teams and heavy equipment operators likely will be needed. “When we know the location, we will let Tennessee DR teams know,” Jones said.
He asked for teams to let his office know what types of units they have available and how long they can be available to work.
Team leaders are asked to email their information to the following three addresses: Wes Jones (wjones@tnbaptist.org); Elizabeth Holmes (eholmes@tnbaptist.org); and TN IMT (drelief@tnbaptist.org).
Jones asked Tennessee Baptists to pray specifically for the following items.
1. That God will wrap his arms around those affected to comfort them;
2. That those who do not know Christ would come to know Him;
3. To locate the right place to set up and run the recovery operations; and
4. That all those who will be safe and that many will come to know Christ.
