Baptist and Reflector
NASHVILLE — The Fellowship at Two Rivers (formerly Two Rivers Baptist Church), voted June 1 to sell its 220,000-square-foot building and 37.5 acres of land to the Catholic Diocese of Nashville.
The church is located off Briley Parkway across from the Opryland Hotel complex in Donelson.
The Catholic Diocese will pay $12.5 million and move operations from the Catholic Center at 2400 21st Avenue South, according to a news article in The Tennessean on June 2.
The Nashville paper reported that the vote was “nearly unanimous” with only one obvious “no” vote.
According to The Tennessean report, the church, which once averaged over 2,000 in attendance, now has about 575 weekly. That attendance is divided between the current site and a congregation in Mount Juliet, according to the news account.
Len Taylor, executive pastor, stressed that the decision to sell was made by the entire congregation and that they’re excited to be looking for a smaller building in the Donelson area, according to The Tennessean.
The Fellowship at Two Rivers has until June 30, 2015 to move from its present site.
