Kim Margrave, volunteer missions specialist for the Tennessee Baptist Convention, recently sent me some information about the national Send North America Conference to be held in Nashville Aug. 3-4.
The meeting, sponsored by the North American and International Mission Boards of the Southern Baptist Convention, will explore “what it looks like to live out the mission of God” in everyday life.
About 10,000 people from across the nation are expected to attend the sessions at Bridgestone Arena in downtown Nashville.
The conference has about 260 volunteers slated to work at this historic meeting in our state, but they need about 700, according to Leigh Harper, volunteer coordinator for the event. Large meetings such as this do not just happen. It takes a lot of planning and a lot of people to make them happen.
Tennessee is known as the “Volunteer State.” It is our legacy and trademark. Some church members can’t go “out of town” for mission trips for legitimate reasons. Here is an opportunity to serve in our own backyard. Find out how you can help.
