Amy Hood

FRANKLIN — The Tennessee Baptist Mission Board is accepting applications for financial grants to help Baptist families adopt children through the Amy Hood Adoption Endowment Fund.

The fund, established in January 2023, honors Amy Hood, an adoption advocate who died in 2022 at age 57 after helping her family adopt three children internationally. The endowment aims to remove financial barriers preventing children from finding homes.

“The Amy Hood Adoption Endowment Fund honors Amy’s legacy and addresses a pressing need,” said Beth Moore, compassion ministry specialist for the TBMB. “We have thousands of children in Tennessee awaiting adoption, and we know families pursuing adoption often face significant financial hurdles. This fund exemplifies what Baptists do best, working together for kingdom purposes.

With more than 7,500 children in Tennessee foster care needing adoption and over 100,000 children nationally awaiting families, the fund provides grants to Tennessee Baptist families throughout the adoption process.

Applications are accepted year-round with multiple deadlines, but families who miss one deadline can apply for the next cycle. Upcoming deadlines include:

  • Nov. 12, 2025
  • Jan. 28, 2026
  • April 8, 2026
  • Aug. 26, 2026
  • Nov. 11, 2026

The fund was established through individual donations and contributions from churches and organizations. It operates under the Tennessee Baptist Mission Board’s Compassion Ministries, which addresses community challenges through various programs including hunger relief, international outreach and school partnerships.
