CHATTANOOGA — Matt Brown has been elected president-elect of the 2023 Tennessee Baptist Pastors Conference.
Brown, senior pastor of Germantown Baptist Church, Germantown, was nominated Nov. 13 by Ben Cowell, a former staff member at Germantown and now pastor of Brownsville Baptist Church, Brownsville.
Brown was elected without opposition.
Cowell noted Brown is “a committed Southern Baptist with nearly three decades of faithful pastoral ministry” with Southern Baptist churches in Mississippi, Louisiana and Tennessee. In addition, he has served 10 years as an adjunct professor with New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary.
He also cited Brown’s conviction to “the supremacy, inerrancy and sufficiency of Scripture” and noted it was “that firm commitment to the sufficiency of Scripture that gives me great confidence that he will plan a Pastors Conference that will be God-honoring, Christ-centered, gospel-focused and Scripture-led.”
Grant Gaines, pastor of Belle Aire Baptist Church, Murfreesboro, was elected president-elect last year and will serve as president of the Pastors Conference in 2024. B&R
