BRENTWOOD – Tennessee Baptist Convention churches contributed $2,789,097 through the Cooperative Program in February.
For the year-to-date, Tennessee Baptists have given $11,818,634. The amount is $145,614 or 1.2 percent below what was given at the same time last year.
The total, however, is $151,967 or 1.3 percent above budget needs after four months into the 2016-17 budget year.
“The Cooperative Program is indeed a fragile rope of sand that voluntarily ties Tennessee Baptists and Southern Baptists with Great Commission work at home and around the globe,” observed Randy C. Davis, president and executive director of the Tennessee Baptist Mission Board.
“I do not take any one of our TBC churches for granted. Out of every Cooperative Program dollar compassion ministry is supported, missionaries do not have to be worried about fund raising to support their calling, and seminary students have their cost of ministry preparation greatly reduced.
“The Cooperative Program has a direct impact upon church planting, church revitalization, disaster relief, and Christian education. I’m thankful for the faithful and sacrificial giving by Tennessee Baptist churches,” Davis said.
