POLICE INVESTIGATE TRAILER FULL OF BURNING BIBLES NEAR TN CHURCH ON EASTER MORNING

April 1, 2024

By The Baptist Paper

Police are investigating a trailer filled with Bibles that was intentionally set on fire near a church in Mount Juliet, Tennessee, on Easter Sunday (March 31), according to local media reports.

The burning trailer was parked at the intersection of Old Lebanon Dirt Road and Chandler Road in front of Global Vision Bible Church. Local authorities responded to the fire at 6 a.m. that morning, according to WKRN News 2. Firefighters immediately extinguished the flames, and no injuries were reported.

“A trailer with about 200 Bibles had been set on fire blocking the entrance … into the main part of our parking lot,” said pastor Greg Locke, WKRN reported.

“We’ve had people do things to our building,” he said, “we’ve been vandalized a number of times, hence why we have to have security, but never 200 Bibles being burned. That’s a pretty rebellious statement towards the church.”

Locke said these types of incidents will not discourage his congregation.

“What people think many times is going to stop us, really just encourages us, in a weird way, to know that we’re doing what’s right.” B&R
