FRANKLIN — The communications team of the Tennessee Baptist Mission Board captured seven awards in the 60th annual Wilmer C. Fields Awards Competition held during the Baptist Communicators Association’s awards banquet April 24 in Richmond.
In the design division, Trish Dubes, senior graphic designer, won first place for the TBMB benefits brochure in the Print Collateral — Brochure category and second place for the Mobile Dental Clinic in the Substantial Projects — Special Display category.
In the feature writing division, Chris Turner, director of communications, won first place for “To All the Fathers for Plugging Away” in the First Person Column/Blog: Single entry category, and Lonnie Wilkey, editor of the Baptist and Reflector, won second place for “Burnout Is Real But So Is Healing” in the Single Article, More than 1,500 Words category.
In the news writing division, Chris Turner and Lonnie Wilkey won second place for “The Rise and Fall of a Leader and a Friend” and third place for “So Much for Restoring Credibility,” both in the Opinion/Editorial category.
In the overall publication category, David Dawson and the Baptist and Reflector won first place in the Print Publication — Newspaper category.
“I am extremely proud of our team and the awards we received,” Turner said. “What I love is that our entries were submissions of work we do every day for the TBMB and in service to Tennessee Baptists.
“There are a few of us whose names landed on the awards, but our success as a group is because every single person on our team makes an important contribution every day. We’re just grateful to do what we love and contribute to the Kingdom-minded work of the TBMB.” B&R
