Wes Jones, disaster relief specialist for the Tennessee Baptist Mission Board, put all teams “on alert” on Friday morning in anticipation of potential severe weather in the state.
In an email, Jones said:
“With the strong winds and storms coming through and the cold weather to follow, we encourage all teams to be alert to the situation in their area, especially in the plateau area where the winds are to be the strongest.”
Jones said if DR volunteers hear about damage in their area, they should go and assess the damage and begin to help. “If you need outside help, let us know,” he said.
Jones requested that the volunteers do the following three things: (1) Pray for those in the path of the storm. (2) If a storm hits in your area, please send out assessors to see what the needs are, and (3) Activate your local units as needed.
