MOUNT JULIET — Tennessee Baptist Disaster Relief teams have been asked to be on alert to respond to possible heavy storms across the state on April 2.
“With the National Weather Service putting out warning for strong winds with the possibility of tornados and storms, I just want to put you all on alert to be aware of events that may happen in your area of the state,” Wes Jones, disaster relief specialist for the Tennessee Baptist Mission Board, said in a written communication to Tennessee Baptist DR volunteers.
The heavy storms are expected to begin in West Tennessee, moving through Middle Tennessee and on to East Tennessee throughout the day and into the evening before exiting the state, Jones added.
Jones encouraged DR personnel to monitor the weather in their communities. “When the storm passes and it is safe, go and assess damaged areas to see if there is need for a response,” he said.
Jones asked local teams to respond to their area if at all possible. “Contact us at the office (wjones@tnbaptist.org or eholmes@tnbaptist.org) and let us know what is going on and if you think you will need additional assistance,” he said. B&R
