Muslims will likely surpass Jews as the second largest religious group behind Christians in the U.S. by 2040, the Pew Research Center reported.

WASHINGTON — Muslims will likely surpass Jews as the second largest religious group behind Christians in the U.S. by 2040, elevated by a high birth rate and immigration, the Pew Research Center said in its latest analysis.

The 3.45 million Muslims here will more than double to 8.1 million by 2050, surpassing the number of Jews along the way, Pew estimated Jan. 3. But the research center did not give a Muslim nor Jewish numerical population estimate for 2040. [Read more…]

About 4 in 10 Protestant churchgoers say their congregation has been involved with adoption or foster care in the past year, according to a study released today (Jan. 24) by LifeWay Research, which conducted the survey Aug. 22–30. [Read more…]

Seven in 10 Protestant churches (68 percent) provide Wi-Fi for both guests and staff, according to a survey of Protestant senior pastors that LifeWay Research released Jan. 9. [Read more…]

UNION TO OBSERVE 10TH ANNIVERSARY OF TORNADO

An EF-4 tornado ripped through the campus of Union University in Jackson 10 years ago, leaving in its wake more than $40 million in damages.

JACKSON — Ten years ago, an EF-4 tornado ripped the Union University campus apart.

The campus sustained about $40 million worth of damages. The whirlwind destroyed buildings and dozens of students were injured in the storm.  [Read more…]
