NASHVILLE — The Church at Lockeland Springs (a regional campus of Brentwood Baptist Church) planted a Community Grove in East Nashville on Nov. 21.

Due to this year’s tornado, many trees around the church’s campus were damaged or removed. The Community Grove will replace the lost trees and exist to be a place of rest and solace for the surrounding community.

“We are blessed to be a part of an incredible, dynamic and loving neighborhood. In the past eight months, East Nashville has been deeply affected by a tornado, increasing civil tensions, a contentious election cycle, and a global pandemic,” said David Hannah, pastor of The Church at Lockeland Springs.

“As a response to a year that seems determined to divide us, along with a desire to reflect God’s love and serve our community, we will plant over a dozen trees on our property. This will provide a welcoming space to relax, reflect, meditate and pray,” Hannah added.

The Community Grove will represent The Church at Lockeland Springs’ first step in creating a green space that can be used by everyone in the neighborhood.

The space will be a place for hope to be restored and dreams to be born — standing as a faithful reminder of the beauty of creation and the history of a community that will last for generations to come, the pastor added.
