BRENTWOOD — For the first time since 2006-07, Cooperative Program gifts from Tennessee Baptist Convention churches have exceeded the budget. What’s more, it was accomplished seven days prior to the end of the month and the fiscal year (Oct. 31).
The amount actually needed to meet budget was received on Monday, Oct. 24. By Friday, Oct. 28, Tennessee Baptists had given $2,398, 659 in October. For the year-to-date, Tennessee Baptists have given $34,366,396.
The amount is $497,376 over what was given last year and is 116,396 above budget needs with one counting day remaining on Oct. 31.
In addition to meeting budget for the first time in a decade, the Cooperative Program total is the largest in five years, said TBC Executive Director Randy C. Davis.
“I am thankful for the sacrificial, strategic, and consistent investment made to Great Commission work by every TBC church through the Cooperative Program,” Davis said.
Davis also expressed support for the “wise counsel and faithful leadership” of the Executive Board and the “diligent focus and hard work” of the Executive Board staff.
“I am thankful the Lord has called us to serve His bride, the local church, and together to saturate Tennessee with the gospel,” Davis said.
The overage will be distributed to the Southern Baptist Convention and TBC entities according to the percentages designated in the 2015-16 CP Allocation Budget.
“Tennessee Baptists have more than met the challenge to meet missions and ministry needs in our state and around the world,” Davis added.
