COVINGTON — During his recent mental health seminar, pastor Ronny Raines, of First Baptist Church, Clarksville, provided his thoughts on questions to consider in regard to how pastors and ministry leaders can take care of themselves. Here are five key areas to consider:
Mental: Are you depressed? Are you anxious? Do you need professional help? Is there margin in your life and ministry? Are you able to disconnect and relax when you’re away from the office? Do you have any recreational interests or hobbies?
Physical: Are you getting enough rest and sleep? When did you last see a doctor? Are you fatigued? Are you exercising several days a week? Are you eating a balanced diet? When was your last vacation? Are you taking a day off every week?
Spiritual: How is your walk with Jesus? Are you reading the Bible for personal spiritual development? Is your prayer life pleasing to the Lord? Is worship a lifestyle for you? Are you fulfilling God’s call? Is the joy of your salvation and call missing?
Relational: How is your marriage relationship? Are you and your spouse talking, dating and enjoying life together? Are you spending quality time with your kids and grandkids? What would your kids or grandkids say about your time with them? How many intimate friends do you have in life and ministry?
Financial: Are you giving as God says? Are you living on a budget? Are you and your wife arguing over money? Are you saving for the day you retire or redeploy? Do you have a will/estate plan? B&R — Videos of the forum can be viewed HERE and HERE.
