Baptist and Reflector
NASHVILLE — The Conference of Southern Baptist Evangelists (COSBE) will host the annual Sunday Morning Worship on June 13 prior to the beginning of the Southern Baptist Convention, which starts June 15 in Nashville.
This service will be held at Hermitage Hills Baptist Church, Hermitage (3475 Lebanon Pike) where Poly Rouse is senior pastor.
“Hope for the Home” is the theme for the service, which begins at 10:30 a.m.
Pastor/evangelist Jerry Drace, program coordinator for the event, has announced that Mike Huckabee and Guy Penrod will be on the program, along with members of COSBE.
Huckabee, a former Southern Baptist pastor, was the 44th governor of Arkansas from 1996-2007 and was a candidate for the Republican Party presidential nomination in 2008 and 2016. He is currently the host of the weekly television show Huckabee.
Penrod is a Grammy Award winner, a member of the Gospel Music Hall of Fame and was the lead singer with the Gaither Vocal Band for several years. He and his wife, Angie have eight children — seven boys and a girl.
“Because this past year has been challenging on so many fronts for families in our nation, the (COSBE) wanted to address some of those challenges by adopting the theme, Hope for the Home,” said Drace.
“In addition to some wonderful worship music, I will be interviewing (former) Governor Huckabee, Guy Penrod and others about some of the ‘highs and lows’ in their lives as it relates to their families,” said Drace. “This will truly be a service to focus on the fact that a relationship with Jesus is the only hope for the home. If you are attending the SBC, come join us on June 13 at Hermitage Hills Baptist Church.” B&R
