RECOMMENDATIONS SOUGHT FOR BOARDS, COMMITTEES

January 25, 2019

Tennessee Baptists are strongly encouraged to go online at www.tnbaptist.org/boardrec and make recommendations of fellow Tennessee Baptists to serve on the Tennessee Baptist Mission Board, one of the seven institutional boards of trust, or one of the eight convention committees, all of which carry on the work of the convention between sessions of the convention. Recommendation form instructions, bylaw requirements and committee preferences are listed on the paper form and are also included on the website.

Randy C. Davis, executive director of the Tennessee Baptist Mission Board, is hoping that the committees will be flooded with recommendations this year.

“Our process is dependent on Tennessee Baptists recommending experienced, qualified, and committed servants of God for these positions. We anticipate strong servant leaders committed to Christ and His Great Commission being recommended for service,” Davis said.

“Our convention is growing more diverse each year as the nations are coming to Tennessee. We now have churches worshiping in over 30 languages every Sunday. It is important that our Boards and Committees reflect that ethnic diversity, as well as the diversity in generations, gender, vocations, and ministries that we already see in our churches,” he continued.

For those uncomfortable with or unable to use the online process, paper forms will also be received by the committee. The paper form can be downloaded from the TBMB website as well. To submit questions, or to request a paper recommendation form, contact Tammy Harris at tharris@tnbaptist.org or 615-371-7912.

Completed forms should be mailed to Board/Committee Recommendations, P.O. Box 682789, Franklin, TN 37068. They can also be faxed to 615-371-2014 or submitted online at www.tnbaptist.org/boardrec.

Recommendations are needed by March 4 in order to make sure the committees have them available in time to begin their process of carefully selecting nominees to bring to the convention in November. Forms received after that date will be considered as vacancies occur.

Persons submitting a recommendation online will receive an e-mail receipt. Every recommendation will be presented to the appropriate committee for consideration. However, not every recommendation will result in a nomination to the convention.

In addition, the committees may also consider a recommendation for a committee or board other than the one for which they were originally recommended.

In every instance, a proposed nominee will be called by a member of the committee for a brief interview before they are formally nominated to the convention.
