LEADERS

Roc Collins

Roc Colllins, director of strategic objectives for the Tennessee Baptist Mission Board, celebrated his fifth anniversary with the TBMB in January. He is a past president of the Tennessee Baptist Convention and formerly served as pastor of Indian Springs Baptist Church in Kingsport.

Robert Nichols retired Dec. 31 after more than 13 years as director of missions for Sevier County Baptist Association. He and his wife, Deborah, served as missionaries in Uruguay for several years before he joined the association as DOM. The couple plans to remain in Sevierville during retirement. He is available for supply preaching. Justin Johnson is serving as acting director of missions for the association.

John Ellsey

DEATHS

John Ellsey died Nov. 12 at the age of 83. He served in music ministry for 63 years in churches in Mississippi, Louisiana, Alabama and Tennessee. He served 21 years at Leawood Baptist Church in Memphis and 27 years at East Acres Baptist Church in Millington before retiring in December of 2020. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Carolyn, four children, 11 grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

  • Faith Baptist Church, Bartlett, honored pastor Danny Sinquefield and his wife Rhonda on Jan. 9 for more than 27 years of service. Sinquefield recently accepted a position as harvest field team leader with the Tennessee Baptist Mission Board. Sinquefield was presented with a proclamation from the mayor of Bartlett, citing the church’s influence and contribution to the city. Paul Wynne, chairman of the deacons, gave a special honor recognizing Sinquefield as pastor emeritus. Former staff member George Siler shared a message of hope and encouragement to the church. The church also hosted a reception for the couple and presented them several gifts.
  • Leoma Baptist Church, Leoma, set a goal of 600 shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child. The church collected 635. Pictured is Betty Hubbard, OCC coordinator.
