  • Susie DuBois recently celebrated her 20th anniversary as ministry assistant with Nolachucky Baptist Association. Joining the celebration were, from left, David Hawkins (director of missions), Veronica Hawkins, DuBois and her husband, Ronald, and former director of missions James Williams.
  • Sand Ridge Baptist Church, Lexington, dedicated its new worship center on Jan. 26. The opening of the new facility after 16 months of construction and several years of planning marks a new era in the 192-year history of the church, according to pastor Marty Comer. The new worship center has 600 theater-style seats with room for 50 additional people on stage and in the choir. Guests will be welcomed in a new commons/welcome center that is adjacent to a covered drive through area. In planning for the project, the church sought to meet the needs of every age group and those with disabilities, Comer said.
  • The Royal Ambassadors, Girls in Action and Youth on Mission of First Baptist Church, Whitwell, recently prepared and delivered Valentines to teachers and staff of their local schools. Each Valentine contained Hershey kisses with a note stating, “You are loved with an everlasting love” (Jeremiah 31:3).
  • Staff members of the Tennessee Baptist Mission Board helped paint the new Janet Bearden Welcome Center at Linden Valley Baptist Conference Center during a break during the staff’s Focus Week in early February. Linden Valley leaders hope the new Welcome Center will be ready to greet visitors in April. Cole Campbell, conference center manager at Linden Valley, noted volunteers are still needed for painting, soffit and batten installation, plumbing fixture installation, electrical fixture installation, cabinet installation, trim fabrication and installation, landscaping, signage installation, furniture assembly and more. Volunteers are also needed for other refurbishing projects at Linden Valley. If interested in volunteering at Linden, contact Campbell at ccampbell@tnbaptist.org or 931-589-2622.
  • Jim and Val Harvey of Nashville have written What’s Good About Old Age? (12 Reasons Old Age Can Be Good). He’s a retired professor of biblical studies from Williamson College in Franklin. His wife has written curriculum for LifeWay Christian Resources and has led numerous conferences.
