UNION TAKING APPLICATIONS FOR BICENTENNIAL PLANNING COMMITTEES

January 14, 2019

From Union University

JACKSON, Tenn. — Union University is accepting applications for committees that will plan events for the university’s bicentennial during the 2022-2023 academic year.

“Union’s bicentennial celebration will be a significant event in the life of the university,” said Catherine Kwasigroh, Union’s vice president for institutional advancement. “For 200 years, by God’s grace, Union has been a significant institution in the state of Tennessee with an impact that has been felt around the world. Our heritage and history is worth celebrating, and we’re looking forward to doing that during our bicentennial.”

The mission of “Union200” is to celebrate two centuries of God’s faithfulness through events and initiatives that commemorate the Union story, unite the Union family and community and cast a vision for the future of the university.

To help plan the celebration of this significant milestone, the university has established six event planning committees: signature event (which will take place in February 2023); special events; community engagement; student life; communications and fundraising; and history and storytelling.

“We would love to see widespread engagement and involvement from all sectors of the university community,” Kwasigroh said. “Alumni, parents, faculty, staff, students, trustees, community members and friends are all invited to apply to serve on these committees and provide leadership for this historic occasion.”

Kwasigroh said the university will review the applications and plans to announce the committee members during the 2019 spring semester.

The application is available at www.uu.edu/union200.
